How to become a Beekeeper
If you have an interest in beekeeping, a good way to start is to read books or internet articles. Do you want to do this as a hobby or as a business? Answering that question will determine which route to take.
If at all possible, find an experienced beekeeper in your area, and ask if you can volunteer your time and labour in exchange for some on-the-job training and experience, as there is nothing quite like being in close contact with these insects.
Learn the differences between workers and queens, and learn how to open a hive and remove frames. Ask the beekeeper what costs are involved in raising bees, and what type of equipment you'll need. Also ask how many beehives you should start with, and what kind of honey bees you should raise.
