How to become a Bodyguard
Bodyguards are typically required to pass training courses offered by specialized bodyguard schools. Courses include self defense, first aid, weapons disarming, and defensive driving. Programs typically consist of classroom and online studies, and can take one month to one year to complete. Some bodyguards are former military members or policemen (see army ROTC program and law enforcement degree).
Many bodyguards carry firearms and tasers. Specialized training and certification is needed in order to carry concealed weapons, as is training in firearms tactics, unarmed combat, tactical driving, and first aid. In units where there are multi-agents, bodyguards may have training in crowd screening and control, providing a protective escort, or searching for explosives or electronic surveillance devices.
