How to become a Cashier
A cashier is usually trained on the job, and there are typically no formal educational requirements. However, some employers prefer applicants with high school diplomas.
There are some skills and abilities that are helpful to have:
- being able to handle and count cash
- knowledge of basic mathematics
- being able to communicate positively with the public
- being helpful, kind and patient
- knowing how to handle difficult/unreasonable customers
- being able to stand for extended periods of time
