How to become a Security Systems Administrator
Security systems administrators need to earn, at minimum, an associate's degree in computer science or a closely related field. Some employers will be happy to accept an associate’s degree and/or a lot of work experience. In most cases, however, employers will look for job candidates with a bachelor’s degree, preferably in computer science, cyber security, information security, or systems administration. Work experience and professional certification may also be required.
Certification is viewed as an industry standard. Internet security administrators are expected to stay up-to-date with current technology, so continuing education is also important.
